Job Summary

Denver Health is recruiting for a part time Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon to join our team. Responsible for examining, diagnosing, and treating diseases and injuries to the musculoskeletal system. Prescribes course of treatment for patients with injuries, disorders, or malformations and performs required surgery. Conducts and supervises direct patient care, including some non-surgical treatment options. The selected candidate will participate in Level I adult trauma call.

Essential Functions :

  • Analyze patient's medical history, medication allergies, physical condition, and examination results to verify operation's necessity and to determine best procedure. (10%)
  • Conduct research to develop and test surgical techniques that can improve operating procedures and outcomes related to musculoskeletal injuries and diseases. (10%)
  • Diagnose bodily disorders and orthopedic conditions, and provide treatments, such as medicines and surgeries, in clinics, hospital wards, or operating rooms. (10%)
  • Diagnose or treat disorders of the musculoskeletal system. (10%)
  • Direct and coordinate activities of nurses, assistants, specialists, residents, and other medical staff. (10%)
  • Examine instruments, equipment, and operating room to ensure sterility. (5%)
  • Examine patient to obtain information on medical condition and surgical risk. (5%)
  • Follow established surgical techniques during the operation. (5%)
  • Manage surgery services, including planning, scheduling and coordination, determination of procedures, or procurement of supplies and equipment. (5%)
  • Operate on patient's musculoskeletal system to correct deformities, repair injuries, prevent and treat diseases, or improve or restore patient's functions. (5%)
  • Order and interpret the results of laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging procedures. (5%)
  • Prepare case histories. (5%)
  • Prescribe preoperative and postoperative treatments and procedures, such as sedatives, diets, antibiotics, or preparation and treatment of the patient's operative area. (5%)
  • Provide consultation and surgical assistance to other physicians and surgeons. (5%)
  • Refer patient to medical specialist or other practitioners when necessary. (5%)
Education :
  • Doctorate Degree Required
Licenses :
  • MD-Physician - State Medical Board Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures and techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.
  • Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while providing quality medical care.
  • Able to receive detailed information through oral communications; express or exchange ideas by verbal communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, listening, and social skills.
  • Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value systems.
  • Performs in a tactful and professional manner.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
