Job Description

As an RN Outpatient at Sanford Health, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients in an outpatient and clinic setting within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. Working in one of the largest health systems in the United States, you will support a wide range of medical services by providing direct patient care, coordinating treatment plans, and ensuring that every patient encounter reflects Sanford Health’s commitment to innovation, safety, and compassionate service. In this role, you will perform comprehensive patient assessments, obtain health histories, and monitor vital signs, symptoms, and responses to treatment. You will administer medications and therapies as ordered, including injections, IV medications, immunizations, and treatments, while adhering to established protocols, safety standards, and infection prevention guidelines. Using clinical judgment, you will assist in triage, prioritize patient needs, and support providers in examinations, procedures, and diagnostic testing. You will collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care. A significant part of your responsibilities will include educating patients and families about diagnoses, medications, self-care, and follow-up instructions, helping them manage chronic conditions and navigate the healthcare system. You will coordinate referrals, follow-up appointments, prescription refills, and community resources to promote continuity of care beyond the clinic visit. Accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) is an essential function of this position. You will record assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care plans in alignment with organizational and regulatory standards. You will actively participate in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety practices, and population health efforts, supporting Sanford Health’s mission to improve health outcomes across the communities we serve.
