Public Information Officer / Dallas District Spokesperson Join to apply for the Public Information Officer / Dallas District Spokesperson role at the Texas Department of Transportation Key Responsibilities Video storytelling: produce engaging videos that tell the story of our transportation projects. Social media management: keep our social media audience informed and engaged. Customer service professional: respond to inquiries, feedback, and concerns from the public in a timely manner. Content creation: write captivating news releases, stakeholder emails, and newsletters. Community engagement: plan and execute public events and workshops. Crisis management: develop strategic communication plans to handle unexpected situations. Collaborative team player: work closely with coworkers and stakeholders. Graphic design: basic graphic design skills for creating infographics and flyers. Innovative thinker: stay up to date with industry trends and explore new ways to engage the public. Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, or related field. Relevant experience may substitute for education on a year‑per‑year basis. Experience: Public Information Officer III – 4 years Public Relations, Communications, or related experience. Public Information Officer IV – 5 years Public Relations, Communications, or related experience. Licenses and Certifications Valid driver’s license (this position requires driving a state vehicle). Preferred Qualifications On‑camera, video production and editing skills. Web writing/UX skills. Competencies Knowledge of AP Styleguide. Clear and engaging presentation skills. Effective public relations and relationship building. Proficiency with audio‑visual equipment. Physical Requirements Light work: lift up to 20 lbs; frequent lifting up to 10 lbs. Standing for prolonged periods. Repetitive motion: wrist, hands, fingers. Close visual acuity; extensive reading; computer use.
